WEYMOUTH RETIREMENT BOARD AUGUST NEWS

The Board met on August 15th and set the date of December 16, 2008 for an election to fill a three year term on the Retirement Board.  Frank Lagrotteria’s term will expire on January 2, 2009.  Notices will be mailed to each retiree and posted in a number of locations.  Eligibility is limited to active members and retirees of the Weymouth Contributory Retirement System.  Nomination papers will be available on September 12, 2008 at the Retirement Office.

The last business day in August falls on a Sunday.  Retirees may expect payments via direct deposit to be made on Friday, August 29th.  Retirees who receive a paper check should be aware that they will be mailed on Wednesday, August 27th and will be dated August 29th.

If you participate in the Town of Weymouth Health Insurance program, and you (or your spouse) will soon be 65 years of age – you are reminded that the Town requires that you enroll in Medicare Part A & B.  If you are uncertain of your eligibility, a visit to the Quincy Social Security Office or the Hanover Social Security Office may answer any questions you have. Once you have your Medicare A & B card from Social Security, please remember to provide a copy to us at the Weymouth Retirement Office, and you will be enrolled in the Medicare Enhance supplement.

On behalf of the Board, Marsha, and Jo-Ann, we wish you an enjoyable Labor Day holiday weekend.  Our office will be closed on Monday, September 1st.
